Responsibilities

Spencer's & Spirit Halloween is seeking an experienced and strategic Director, Human Resources to lead the Human Resources (HR) function at our Charlotte Distribution Center. You will be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies that align with the company's overall objectives while fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture. As the Director, Human Resources, you will play a key role in talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and organizational development.

  • Develop and implement HR strategies that support the Distribution Center's goals and objectives
  • Collaborate with senior management to align HR initiatives, understand business and staffing plans, and align with overall business strategy
  • Anticipate and plan for changes in staffing needs based upon business fluctuations; develop contingency plans for peak seasons or unexpected changes in demand
  • Drive workforce planning, succession planning, and talent management efforts
  • Conduct timely analyses of compensation structures, utilizing market data surveys to implement adjustments to align with market trends to attract and retain top talent while ensuring internal equity and compliance with relevant regulations
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and management on HR-related matters, addressing employee concerns, conflicts, and grievances promptly and professionally
  • Lead the performance management process, including goal setting, incentive programs, performance evaluations, and development plans
  • Oversee the recruitment and onboarding processes by developing and maintaining effective relationships with external recruitment agencies and collaborating with hiring managers to ensure a streamlined recruitment process
  • Use data analytics for workforce planning, performance management, and decision-making
  • Promote our Great Place to Work initiatives and maintain a fun and collaborative culture, ensuring inclusivity while achieving a high workplace morale
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with employment laws and regulations through regular audits, policy updates, and communication, while also enforcing legal standards, certifications, and providing guidance on HR compliance matters
  • Maintain employee personnel files and HRIS system records
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address and mitigate safety concerns
  • Lead, mentor and develop Human Resources team members

Qualifications

  • Minimum of eight years of progressive HR experience, with at least three years in a leadership role
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field, preferred. SHRM or PHR certification, preferred
  • Prior experience in a seasonal distribution center or warehouse environment is highly preferred
  • Proven experience in talent acquisition, employee relations, and organizational development
  • In-depth knowledge of employment laws, including EEOC, FMLA, ADA, and OSHA regulations and best practices
  • Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills
  • Experience identifying human resources compliance risks and providing training to mitigate risk
  • Excellent communication and people skills; fluency in Spanish preferred
