Spirit Halloween/Spencer's is looking for an experienced Photography Supervisor to coordinate all aspects of photography needs for shooting a diverse set of products, with an emphasis on fashion, soft goods/apparel and hardline/electronics/novelty. In this role the qualified candidate will be responsible for managing photo operations team and the end to end process from the successful execution of internal photo shoots to the final delivery and storage of digital assets. The candidate must possess the ability to think strategically and act quickly and maintain supreme control during the sometimes-hectic environment of a photo shoot. Prior experience of leading a team, producing and delivering digital photography & video, including location scouting, model castings, fee negotiations, contracts and budgeting a plus.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are a must, along with the ability to manage competing priorities among cross-functional teams to assure all work is completed on time.
  • Source and negotiate outside resources such as photographers, stylists, merchandise coordinators, hair and makeup artists and models (adults and children).
  • Responsible for prop shopping and replenishment of studio supplies.
  • Partnering with internal departments to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of product and production kits to studio team for scheduled shoots.
  • Streamline photography process while driving continuous improvement of image quality and branding standards.
  • Ability to assist photographers as needed with steaming product/prep work, lighting setup and other studio requirements to complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Ability to manage budget, allocate and complete studio expense reports within a timely fashion.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills and be able to speak to photo and video with authority.
  • Consult with internal partners in various departments to ensure clear direction and expectation of deliverables.
  • Handle all product produced internally and manage the shoot work-flow from end to end.
  • Work closely with Studio Manager to update the photo studio shoot schedule for multiple brands, allocate resources where needed and leverage those needs against budget.
  • Secure permits and other necessary documents needed for shooting on location and evaluate contracts.
  • Obtain catering for all photo shoots in accordance to budget and handle day of shoot.
  • Responsible for monitoring product inventory and integrity as it is transported to and from the photo studio or on-location shoots.
  • Knowledge of image processing and digital enhancement techniques.
  • Experience in a variety of studio and location settings, fashion models and editorial/studio lifestyle.
  • Understanding of photography principles, equipment and capture/editing programs.
  • Balance competing priorities across internal teams.
  • Able to juggle multiple tasks in an ever changing, fast-paced environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement in image quality and standards.
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.

Education and/or Experience:

  • BS or AS in Commercial/Advertising Photography or related field.
  • 3 to 4 years of experience in photography studio/project management.

Computer Skills:

  • Knowledge of digital photography, Canon cameras, Mac software, Adobe CS6, Photoshop, Capture One and Global Edit.
  • Strong grasp of different file types and when to use them (TIFF, Jpeg, Gif, PSD, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of image sizing and resolution for print and digital application.
  • Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Excel and Sharepoint or other product life management systems.

  • Exceptionally detail-oriented with ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Knowledge of hair and makeup trends and the ability to communicate with makeup artists.
  • Able to relate with many personality types with authority.
  • Retail photography experience a plus.
  • Interest in Halloween, pop-culture, music, and teen lifestyle a plus.
