Responsibilities
The Director, Public Relations will drive positive media exposure, brand storytelling, and external communications for Spirit and Spencer's. This role develops and executes PR strategies to increase consumer awareness, support sales and marketing efforts, and enhance corporate reputation through compelling and consistent messaging across all channels.
Develop and lead integrated PR strategies to maximize positive media coverage for Spirit and Spencer's products and brand initiatives
Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries, ensuring timely, accurate, and brand-aligned responses
Cultivate relationships with top-tier media, influencers, and journalists to secure high-impact placements across print, broadcast, online, and social channels
Monitor industry trends and translate insights into proactive media opportunities and strategic recommendations
Craft clear, engaging communication narratives for product launches, corporate initiatives, and brand campaigns in collaboration with Marketing, eCommerce, and Social Media teams
Develop press releases, media kits, lookbooks, and executive interview materials aligned with brand voice and business objectives
Maintain and evlve brand voice guidelines to ensure consistency across all external communications, including media responses and crisis communications.
Lead media programming and storytelling efforts for product launches, events, and promotional campaigns, leveraging both traditional and non-traditional channels such as video content and influencer collaborations
Partner with cross-functional teams to align PR activities with marketing campaigns and sales initiatives for maximum impact
Manage PR agency relationships, ensuring deliverables meet strategic objectives and align with brand priorities
Foster collaboration with internal teams to stay ahead of new initiatives and provide media strategies that elevate brand visibility
Create quarterly media reports highlighting performance, coverage metrics, and opportunities for improvement
Track results of PR campaigns and events to optimize future strategies
Continually refine PR strategies to support evolving corporate goals and product innovations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or related field; advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred
- 8–10 years of relevant experience in PR, communications, or related fields; retail or consumer-facing industry experience strongly preferred
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong creative voice
- Ability to translate complex product information into clear, compelling stories for media audiences
- Comfortable representing the brand with national media outlets, performing confidently under deadline pressure
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize, communicate effectively across teams, and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple departments
- Highly organized, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Willingness to work extended hours as needed for press events and media deadlines
- Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency, ownership, and passion for delivering results
The pay range reflects the potential base salary range for this role. Individual base pay is determined by various factors such as relevant experience and skills, and the scope and responsibilities of the position.
Pay Range
$130,000 - $145,000
